<The Pastor of our 1st Christian Church of Greensburg
is the Rev. Dr. Renny Domske.
Renny came to us in Greensburg in November, 2008, and we are excited
about his leadership
and effervescence.
His humor is notorious (notice we did not say 'good' or
'bad!') and
his dedication to Jesus Christ is obvious.
He presents a verbal picture of being a follower of
Jesus Christ that touches both our hearts and our minds.
His knowledge of Scripture is very much a strong suit. Dr. Renny
Domske has served churches in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia,
Washington, Iowa, Wilmington, North Carolina, and Jamestown,
Pennsylvania: churches as small as 250 and as large as
2500.
Renny majored in Psychology at Duke University in Durham, North
Carolina, where
he was a 'scrub' on the baseball team for two years and
where he became an obnoxious Duke Blue Devil basketball fan.
He received his doctorate from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond,
Virginia, in 1978.
Yet this southern-educated boy is really one of us, as he grew up on a
farm in
Western Pennsylvania, near Washington, Pa. Renny says
he is an athlete (we've never actually seen him be good at anything!),
he says he loves to sing (well, he is OK at that, I guess), and
he uses big words sometimes (so he may be intelligent, but the jury is
still out on that).
He does still play in a softball league near his home and he has been
known to leave a
church meeting to go find out the score of any Pirate game. We feel
God's Presence drew Renny Domske and 1st Christian Church to be
together.
We seek to know God more fully, and we find that happening through the
humor,
the knowledge, the depth, and the heartfelt presentations of Renny's
teachings.
Renny has become our Mentor and our Friend. You would
be wise to come and sit under his teaching,
while laughing and sometimes crying as we worship
God together.
